Royaume du Bhoutan

Le Bhoutan est un petit pays de 47 000km² situé dans l’est de la chaîne de l’Himalaya, entre l’Inde au sud, à l’est et à l’ouest, et la Chine (Tibet) au nord. A l'ouest, il est séparé du Népal par l'Etat indien du Sikkim. Sa capitale et plus grande ville est Thimphou.

La population du royaume, estimée à 750 000 personnes, est majoritairement bouddhiste vajrayana (bouddhisme tibétain). L'hindouisme népalais et indien est la seconde religion (25% de la population). 

Le Bhoutan est célèbre pour sa recherche du bonheur, et pour l'invention par le roi en 1972 du Bonheur National Brut (BNB), substituant aux PIB et PNB utilisés dans le reste du monde.
